200 Love Affirmations To Manifest Love (Plus How To Use Affirmations Effectively)

Quit banging your head against the wall and start using affirmations the right away.

Before I share my massive list of love affirmations, let’s talk about why affirmations often don’t work—and how to actually use them to attract love.

I’ve used affirmations to manifest love successfully— but only after realizing I’d been doing them totally wrong for years.

So before you waste time writing affirmations 55 times a day like I did, let’s fix a few common mistakes first.

Mistakes people make when they use affirmations to manifest love

Here’s what I tried that didn’t work:

Writing love affirmations out 55 times every day. I lasted almost 2 whole days.

Obsessively repeating love affirmations to myself in my head, in an effort to push myself into “getting” it.

Starting every morning by reading a 3×5” card with all my pre-written affirmations.

This kind of obsessive forcing felt vaguely ridiculous, as though I was trying to fool myself, because I was.

Then I realized that all of these ways to use affirmations are ineffective because they include a mistake that I see my coaching clients make all the time.

I was “thought efforting” in my attempts to manifest love.

What is thought efforting?

“Thought efforting” is when you try to manifest something by thinking about it obsessively— almost as if sheer mental force will make it happen.

It’s the illusion that if you just focus harder, script longer, or repeat affirmations louder, the universe will get the memo faster. But it doesn’t work that way.

There is making a real effort in the material world– for example, going on a dating app and trying to make a meaningful connection in real time with a human being– and there is “thought efforting.”

Thought efforting is also thinking that your problem will be solved when you think enough about strategy or that worrying will protect you.

Thought efforting might also include policing your thoughts (don’t you dare think about anything that includes things you don’t want!), becoming superstitious about thoughts, pretending to be a person who already has what you want and generally making yourself semi-crazy around stuff you desire but don’t have yet.

I’m being a bit dramatic there to prove the point.

Thought efforting does not actually involve “doing” anything besides thinking a LOT in a certain direction.

It is purely a mental exercise designed to… I don’t know… Blast one’s consciousness into some new video game level or something.

Thought efforting does not help.

It simply expends a lot of energy and deludes people into believing they are achieving something when they are not.

Because thought efforting all happens inside our heads.

That’s not to say that our thought pictures don’t sometimes play out in reality, because I’ve seen that happen to myself in real time.

The thing is that all this forcing, all this thought efforting is NOT the mechanism that manifested the new circumstances.

In fact, the coolest things I’ve manifested all had one thing in common and that was ease.

There might have been some focus in there also, but not the type of “now with more cowbell” focus I’m referring to right now.

It’s as though after The Secret book came out and gained its stranglehold on popular culture, people started playing a game of telephone with the concept “thoughts become things.”

Suddenly we’re all supposed to hype ourselves into high positive emotional states while obsessively ruminating on realities we want to experience.

And… affirmations have become just another way to amp up the thought intensity.

If thought alone created reality, horror movie fans and people with OCD would be in real trouble.

What about the summer when I, a scaredy-cat non-horror movie fan– read the plot to Human Centipede on wikipedia and went on an icky mental vacation that I kept returning to for weeks afterward?

I can think about unicorns and pink elephants INTENSELY and not see these things popping into my living room uninvited.

I would be full of shit if I tried to tell you that you will eventually manifest everything you think about if you simply keep focusing on it without doing anything else.

That’s just not my experience or that of anyone honest who I’ve compared notes with.

People invent all kinds of explanations for this, but until the Wizard of Oz finally appears and explains the mystery of the holographic nature of life, that is above my pay grade.

What I have found to be true is that thoughts that are given focus do tend to multiply.

Plenty of things do end up in my material world that pertain directly to my thoughts.

This tendency for inside reality to travel outward can feel miraculous and it’s one of the most mysterious parts of life.

But thought efforting– in the way I mean here, is not a helpful habit of thought.

Thinking harder does not help you manifest quicker, sooner, better or easier. It is more likely to give you a headache than a new car.

Unfortunately, this is the direction spirituality and manifesting has been headed lately.

The thought efforting problem has gotten so bad that I’m starting to flinch when I hear the word “manifest” (which is an issue when I have built a big ass group coaching program called Manifest True Love).

It’s also a big reason why people have started to sound like they’re spouting off total nonsense when they talk about spiritual topics.

This is also why many people get stuck, lose hope and give up, because they are sitting around thinking HARD (NO HARDER!) and not doing anything in the direction of their desires.

Anyway, obsessively repeating statements you hope are true/want to be true/include identity traits you don’t currently possess in an effort to pretzel-twist your thoughts into something unreal just burns mental energy and gets your personal psychology overly involved.

Not only does it not work, but you will sound kind of delusional and unhinged to yourself. Which is not a personal power creating exercise.

And you’ll have a hard time attracting anything of value besides spirited criticism from anyone rational within earshot.

I could try coaching you out of feeling like a misaligned wacko while we maintain the delusion, or we could skip all that bullshit and go in a more helpful direction.

That’s why affirmations can be tricky, and why it seems helpful to warn you.

If you’re only here looking for love affirmations because you think that all you need is to affirm harder and with more intensity to create the reality you want, it’s time to drop that idea like hot mental trash.

Go do something fun, like paint a picture or go outside. Leave the affirmations alone.

Now, if you happen to like the idea of gently adding new ideas– like gaining a mental software upgrade through thought–  affirmations can be helpful and inspiring.

How to use love affirmations to manifest love

Instead of all this striving to use affirmations in some intense way I will give up on in three days, I like to include affirmations on my vision boards, make them into wallpapers for my phone and generally incorporate them into my daily life.

Sometimes I write them on colorful post-it notes and put them all around my house.

When they seem stale, ridiculous or misaligned, I trash them and get something else.

The only consistent theme is that affirmations can be worthwhile when they feel good, inspiring and clean. They are useless and unhelpful when forced or ridiculous.

A helpful affirmation does not require that you get a body or personality transplant for it to be true.

In fact, the best affirmations are the ones that already are true on some level.

This does not wake up your internal “this is raging bullshit” meter and makes the affirmation genuinely useful.

“Every day I am more and more like a serene sea owl” will feel ridiculous and untrue (what even IS a sea owl!?).

“I enjoy an abundant life” has a tone of reality.

There are lots of potential meanings to ‘enjoy’ and ‘abundant’ so it’s a lot easier to get one’s psyche around it.

Trying to use a bunch of affirmations about who you have decided you should be but are decidedly NOT can stink up your psyche like a dumpster fire in the desert.

For example, I’m not that into waking up early unless I have a flight to catch.

If, for some reason, I were to decide to wake up earlier, I would feel vaguely ridiculous if I did a bunch of affirmations about how I’m a morning person (a lie).

Instead, I would get a fair amount of juice out of affirming that I prioritize feeling rested, having more energy and getting lots of things done easily.

Because the only reason to become a morning person would actually be to feel rested and have more energy to do what I want.

That’s why, if the affirmations I’m going to share on this page don’t feel good, natural or as though they hit to the heart of your real desire, don’t use them.

It won’t help the situation.

Don’t try and force yourself to think and believe these things if they are so far out of your reality that they sound like crunchy static in a quiet room.

When it comes to choosing the right love affirmations for you, choose a few of them and sprinkle them around, see what feels good to you.

Then discard anything that doesn’t suit you.

Light, easy, breezy. That’s the most helpful way to use affirmations to manifest.

So, instead of grinding your brain into exhaustion, let’s take the effortless approach—where affirmations feel good, natural, and actually work.
