It’s always a struggle for me to come up with what to get for Valentine’s Day. In that spirit, I wanted to start early this year and come up with some inexpensive Valentine’s Day gifts for guys under $30 that are actually fun and unique.
Since my partner is my go-to source for this kind of intel, obviously I started by trying to get the answers out of him first. He wasn’t as helpful as I would have hoped, so I started listing items aloud while glaring at him, clutching my notepad.
“Lingerie?” I said hopefully.
“While women THINK that’s a gift for us, it’s fun and all, but I can’t exactly play with it by myself after you wear it,” he said.
“Candy?” I said with more hope.
“You’ll end up eating most of it,” he said.
I nodded reluctantly and presented my next lightning bolt idea, “flowers?”
“Ugh. Not a lot of guys I know actually like it when women get them flowers. They smile and say thank you but they secretly hate it,” he said.
“Electronics? I hate to give you that because it’s so unromantic,” I said, deflated.
“Yes. Electronics are good,” he said. “It’s not unromantic at all.”
“But it doesn’t feel romantic,” I replied, eyes narrowed. “If you gave me an Xbox for Valentine’s Day, I would be sort of disappointed.”
“Romantic for you isn’t the same as romantic for me, don’t think romantic, think fun,” he said. “I’d love an Xbox.”
In that spirit, the gift ideas under $30 started actually coming. Remember ladies, romantic for him isn’t the same as romantic for you.
